Today's challenge on SCS was to make a paper pieced gift card holder. I finished my challenge pretty quick today and figured I'd get started on wrapping my Christams gifts. My parents want gift cards to restaurants - it's the perfect gift for them because they have EVERYTHING already and love going out to eat... so I've been going around and collecting $25.00 gift cards from various restaurants to give out to my parents, in-laws and brother/SIL.
For the first one I covered the original gift card envelope with designer paperand an embossed tree - you can see it peeking out of the top of the bag. This restaurant gave us a menu along with the card, so I rolled the menu up and tied it with a bow, then made a gift bag with the remaining designer paper. Basically this project took up 1 sheet of 12x12 double sided paper and few cardstock scraps - no too bad! The trees are embossed with enchanted gold glittery EP.
The second project is made with a plastic take out box I bought at Michaels. I covered the front and the back with designer paper. PUnched a scalloped circle and used the reverse side of the paper, then added the "Wishing You Joy" sentiment (which I sewed around the edges). The gift card holder was just covered with designer paper then embellished with ribbon and brads. The gift card will go in the take out container, but I just wanted to show you both.
Since I didn't think I would be home today I did the drawing for my Christmas card list last night to try to be a bit ahead of things... I then realized I said that I would do it today, so some of you have missed out on leaving your comments. So I will choose 1 more recipient from the comments left on this post and add them to my list. I'll pick a name on Tuesday evening.
Let me know what you think of my gift card holders!

Love the gift card holders. I've got a few gift cards to give too - thanks for inspiring me to do something special with them other than the standard envelopes or holders from the stores. (You already drew my name for the Christmas cards so don't add me in the mix!)
These are adorable ideas. Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous packaging. And that's a nice amount of designer paper to use on a project. SU! gives you SO MUCH in a package. I never use it all.
Such cute containers for your gift cards!
