Favorite Songs for my Favorite Friend - Gina K New Release!

Wow - I had sooooooo muchhhhhhhh funnnnnnn with this set! I was totally excited when Gina K asked me to make some samples up with Alicia's new set "Best Friends". Both me and my girls loved her last Anna Mae set, so as soon as this one arrived we were ready to start!
As most of you know I have 2 teenaged girls and usually end up with a birthday party every 2 weeks or so for one of their friends. They are both HUGE music fans, so burning cd's as gifts is a nice and thoughful present since each playlist is made with the birthday girl in mind. I used Scenic Route paper as my inpiration for this project... I love rainbows and the the bright colors just scream TEEN to me!! This set consists of a card, a cd holder (with a cd in it someday...) and a box filled with fruit shaped gum balls.

The card was the first piece made. I colored the girls with copic markers in vibrant colors... some of the colors I probably don't use very often!! I added a bit of the rainbow paper to the bottom, then hung the sentiments on jump rings to give them a little swing. I love the choices that this set has to offer for sentiments. Fun things like "You can never have too many..." and "Nothing is better than...." Plus lots of fun words to fill inthe blanks!

The cd holder is made with one of the white cardstock blanks sold on Paperaddiction.com.
These come in packages of 4 that are all ready for you to decorate. I used more of the rainbow paper to decorate the holder and trimmed down the main images and matted it on black cardstock.

The bright plastic and foam flowers are from Creative Impressions. They are held together with brads that were decorated with the rainbow rhinestones. I also used my brand-spankin' new lime green metallic letters from Thickers. I love these things!!

The inside of this is actually a little bit different from the blank cd covers we have in the store because it has an extra flap on the left side. I made a little book for the inside cover by sewing together sheets of black cardstock. I left them black because we will print out the song lists and some lyrics once we burn the cd. It's also a great place for journaling and pictures! I love doodling with white gel pen on black cardstock for a cool chalkboard effect!

The matching box was made with black cardstock and I used leftover scraps to cover the sides. The top was cut in a circle with a Fiskars shape cutter and clear acetate was glued to the inside of the lid. You should have seen me picking through the penny candy looking for something that would look pretty with rainbow dp! The box measures 3.5" x 3" x 1.5".
I decorated with the top with the plastic flowers, white gel pen accents and more of the rainbow rhinestones.

Thanks so much for following this all the way to the end! If you love this set as much as I do then take a stroll over to Gina K's store to snag "Best Friends" for yourself! There are more fantastic samples of this set on Gina's Blog, as well as Cammie's, Courtney's, Donna's, Emily's, Erika's, Jessica's, and Melanie's as well.

Take a second and let me know what you think!

I really like the way you put this together, and the rainbows are perfect. Would love to see more on how to make the box if there's a place you can direct me...is it two separate pieces, or is the lid attached? Great work!
