16 Candles - Birthday cd Holder

My oldest daughter is going to a sweet 16 birthday party tonight for one of her good friends. I can't believe they are all starting to turn 16 - wow I'm starting to feel old! We (I mean "I") always try to make cool gifts for her friends - it usually involves chocolate, but this time Sierra wanted to burn her a custom cd with some of their favorite songs and of course I had just the materials to make a cool holder for it!

The holder was made with the heavyweight white cardstock blanks that we sold at the store last month (and sold out of). This is the single pocket version that is perfect for holding one cd. More of these blanks will arrive shortly and will be available 4/$3.00 - keep checking the site for updates! I covered the holder with solid paper from PTI and added distressing and faux stitching all around.

The front was decorated with candle cut outs from the new Scenic Route paper called Skyview Drive. I cut out 16 of the candles and adhered them under a layer of Rainbow Road. The "16 Candles" sentiment was done with Thickers foam alphabet letters.

The inside of the holder has more of the dp and a little flap card for my daughter's handwritten greeting. I decorated the little card with scraps left over from the front and a SU! sentiment.

The candles all have a little bit of gold stickles on the flame... what's a birthday card without a little bling? I also added some hot fix rhinestones from Kandi Corp which I adhered with their hot fix applicator.

The inside of the flap card contains a playlist of the songs on the cd. I left room on the top half of the card for my dd's personal birthday wishes. I'm trying to get her to decorate the cd, but we'll have to see if she does!

Take a second and check out the cute Scenic Route paper in the store plus all of our Basic Grey 6x6 pads in stock (including the NEW Wassail Xmas one!) PLUS we currently have 10% off the entire store until 10/31/08.

Thanks so much for stopping by and please let me know what you think of my 16 Candles project. I'll have another teen birthday project next week because it'll be her BFFFFFFF's birthday so I'll need to come up with something really spectacular!

What an AWESOME card!

You were the Card of the Week at Card of the Week.com. You can see the original post here.

I did use a picture from your post, with links back to the site and the original post. I hope that is OK. Please feel free to email me if you need me to change anything.

I also have an “I was featured” on badge for you if you want it :D

Thanks again for sharing!
