I learned this technique over the weekend at a training class and have used it on a few of my cards this week. I've received many PM's and emails looking for instructions, so here is a quick look at how to make the scallops.
I cut my hearts with cuttlebug dies, but you can use punches as well. I usually just punch out a bunch, but you could measure it out so you get an exact number.
I used Scor-tape to on the back of the strip that I'm applying the scallops to. This tape is awesome - and so reasonably priced. Plus it is much easier to peel off the paper backing - I'm always struggling with the red plastic strip on sticky tape!
Stick the hearts to the tape lining them up next to eachother. I place them so just a tiny bit of the base is showing through the "V" between the humps. I stick them down all the way to the end of the strip, then trim the end down with my trimmer.
Flip it over and you have nice even scallops! I've always struggled with using the SU corner punch to make scallops - it would never fail that I'd get to the end of my line and mess up with an overlapped edge or an extra piece of paper sticking up because I didn't punch close enough. This is an error free way 'cause you can always shift them a little if needed (as long as you don't press them down and gently lay them on the tape).
Here is my finished card. It was made with the new western set from My Favorite Things which is being released on Wednesday, March 5. Join us for the release party in the MFT Forum on Splitcoaststampers. I will be hosting a challenge to pick the next guest designer - it could be you!!
Thanks for looking and let me know what you think of this tutorial. PLUS I'd love to see projects you make with this technique!! Post them here in a comment.

First visit from the UK to your webpage, but it will not be my last. I love your scallop technique using a heart shaped punch
Cool idea to use hearts! I've used punched circles before but this is twice as fast. You're right - better than the corner rounder.

Love this card! I make these scallops with my different heart Fiskars Squeeze punch, it still amazes me how well the "scallops" turn out and why I didn't think of this years ago!
I love your blog and love your work, and this is why I tagged you on my blog as one of my favorite blogs I visit often!
