Floral Frenzy

While watching American Idol last night I dragged out my caddy of Copics and a sheet of stamped flowers from my recent Joann's acquisition and did a little coloring. I keep all my copics in a wire silverware basket that I bought on clearance last fall... it has compartments that hold the markers upright and is just the right size so I can separate all my markers by color families... red/orange/yellow, green, blue/purple, browns & greys/blacks. Plus it convenient that I can just grab the handle and take them all with me wherever I feel like coloring.
This card was made for the Thursday challenge on SCS, which was to use an iron on your project. I decided to make my sponged background using the wax paper resist found in the resource section of SCS. Once I ironed my wax paper to the white card base I sponged the dye inks on with a blending tool from Inkessentials. This is one of my go-to tools that I use on almost every single card. Usually I use it to add a little brown distressing along the edges, but today I changed the sponge and used Pink Passion, Rose Red, Bordering Blue, Brilliant Blue and Turquoise inks which were rubbed over the wax resist to create the background pattern.

The flowers are from Inkadinkado's Doodle Flower set. I used the following Copic colors to create these blossoms: RV14, RV19, RV04, RV06, RV10, RV02, RV21, RV23, V91, B95, B91, YR68, YR04 and YG11. The flowers petals were outlined in RV14, then B91 was lightly brushed from the centers almost to the edges. I use a combo of the lighter pinks to color over the blue. I wanted leaves that blended in with the color scheme and didn't stick out at too green, so I used B95 for the outer edge then colored the center with YG11. One of my favorite copic colors that I purchased separate from my Ciao sets is B91. It's a dusty, worn denim color - love it!
