Fun with Folds

Yesterday was a release day for lots of new Gina K Designs stamp sets, so I spent most of the day coming up with my sneak peeks for the party last night. I did a demo over the weekend on the Scor-pal and it really remeinded me of how much fun this product can make card making. Alot of my cards have been the standard one fold A2 size lately, so I was determined to make these a little different!

The first card uses a 4.25 x 11 sheet of cardstock which was scored at 1.25" and 4.25" (if you move the paper end to the .25" position you can quickly score at 1.5 and 4.5 for these measurements). I stamped the stars and fireworks with Not Quite Navy, Colorbox Cranberry and Versamagic Silver. The stars, fireworks and sentiment are all part of the the new Gina K Set called "Woo Hoo"

This card opens by pulling down to reveal the invitation inside which I handwrote on red paper with a white gel pen. I also added lots of platinum stickles to the fireworks and around the invite edges to make it just sparkle!

The second card is the style that I demo'd over the weekend. It's made with a 4.25 x 11 sheet of cardstock and turns out to be a 4 x 4.25 double accordian fold. The card is scored at 1.5, 3.5, 7.5 and 9.5 and folded as shown. I used PTI Lemon Tart and Sweet Blush as the cardstock, and stamped the bear on the pink before coloring it with copics. I'm getting a bit tired of always using white for my copic coloring.... but as you see you can use colord cardstock and get the same nice results.

When you slide the ribbon off the front the inside opens up to say "give yourself a big hug". One other product on this card this is pretty cool - see that eyelet on the corner of the bear image? It's a sticker! You simply adhere it where you want it and punch out the paper in the ceneter and voila' - a pretty eyelet! Gina K has them in her store!

I had a few people request the measurements of this card and also for the matching envelope when I did the demo.... here they are:

Double Gate-fold card

1. Made with a 4.25” x 11” sheet of cardstock

2. Score at 1.5”, 3.5”, 7.5” & 9.5”

Custom Envelopes

1. Made with 5.25” x 10.50” sheet of designer paper

2. Score at ½” on both long edges

3. Score at 2” and 6.5” on other edge.

4. Trim off 1/2" tabs between 2" score and end and between 6.5" score and end. Round corners of top flap

5. Adhere center back flap with scor-tape.

The third card is actually my personal favorite. I used the set "My Favorite Re-Turns" for the typewriter and "thanks". The typewriter was punched off-center with a scalloped circle and colored with copics. I stamped the sentiment on a plastic tag with Palette black ink, let it dry completely then inked it with ballet blue.

This card also uses a 4.25 x 11 sheet of cardstock scored at 2" and 5.5". I I covered the panels with dp from K&Company's new Amy Butler line, then mounted the main image on several layers of blue and black cardstock and added the screw brads to the sides.

I like this style because when you open it, it actually utilizes the entire inside to write your message. When you open a traditional card the "back" of the front is usually wasted space

Let me know what you think and which one is your favorite?

Oh, Michelle......how can you be so unfeeling and ask us to pick a favorite of 3 "too awesome" cards??!!!? :( :o ;)
While I like the 3rd card the most as a general whole, I like the colors on the first one and the folding on the second one. So, my favorite is "all of the above!!"
Thanks for sharing, you talented girl! You rock!

Hey, Michelle!! Let's see... the 'fireworks' card is my favorite because my oldest son was born on July 4th (HAVE to get that set!), the 'bear' card is my favorite because I love that image and the pink & yellow together, and the typewriter card is my favorite because of the colors and the unique fold!
I wasn't much help, was I??? With the gorgeous creations you share with us, it's impossible to pick a favorite----something like choosing a favorite child! :-) What can I say?!?! You rock!!! :-)
Have a great day---Pam (4Hounds)
