Oriental Blooms

I made this for today's SCS challenge - but I love it so much I'm gonna post it here too. It's made with Basic Grey's BLUSH line... the background is from the small 6x6 pad, and the flower centers are cut out from a larger 12x12 sheet. I stamped the Big Bloom flowers onto a pink distressed paper from the paper pack. I didn't want much ink to show up on the paper, so I brushed a liquid chalk pad around the edges of the stamp, and it worked out perfectly!

The ribbon stems have been one of my favorite techniques late. I punch a hole through the background where I'm gonna place the flowers, then I punch another hole at the bottom of the card. I then thread the ribbon or fiber through these holes and secure around the back. I also tied more fiber around the stems as leaves. I used the fiber pack from Basic Grey that matches the Blush line. The colors match perfectly!

I'm working on a couple of other really cool projects with my basic grey paper, I just can't seem to finish them though!! I have an accordian album about half done (using Stella Ruby) - and an altered journal about half done too (using Lily Kate). Hopefully I'll finish these up in the next day or so and post them both here. Thanks for looking!

I'm gonna keep up the Basic Grey theme for a few more days... but them I'm looking for suggestions for my next blog challenge. Leave an idea in your comment then I'll pick a few and put it up for a vote!

Love your blog !! One of my favs. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I have only just bought my first package of basic grey paper. At first I was going to buy the 6x6 but I couldn't find it to buy. When I came across the 12x12 I decided to buy it -- figured it was the same paper. However, your comments make me wonder if the different sizes are different in some way. Are the designs reproduced smaller on the smaller sized paper perhaps?? The type of paper I bought is the Blush line (I love it all). I will check your blog for a response if you do or you could pm me at SCS if you have time- I'm wiggydl. Thanks in advance for your time and input.

Keep blogging

Oh once again you've done a fabulous job and I am loving Basic Grey even more (who knew that was even possible). I would say a interesting challenge would be *masculine cards* ... ones without flowers that any adult man would like to receive. (hey I'm thinking some basic grey papers could still be used here!!) wink

A new challenge; perhaps the shaker cards? I haven't tried them myself .. yet, and would love to see what you will create Michelle.
