Lily Kate Journal

I covered this Dollar Store journal with some of the 6x6 paper from the Lily Kate paper pack. This is such soothing paper! The front is covered with 2 different prints - then I added a piece of glitter covered chipboard with "Wishing You Joy" stamped on celery cardstock. The bottom image of the tree is stamped on celery, then colored with chalks until it matched the BG paper.
-
It still needs something though!!! I'm looking for comments/suggestions on what else can go on the front of the book. Should it be ribbon? More chipboard? Some other images??? Or leave it as it is??? After all I do tend to overembellish!! You decide what I should do, and put your suggestion in a comment. Thanks for playing along.... in a day or so I'll finish this up based on suggestions and will post another picture of it all finished.

This is gorgeous JUST the way it is! I love how you incorporated the stamps in with the BG paper! The ribbon works great with it too! Very nice job!

I think it's great as is. If you have to add something though or you won't be happy, maybe a row of buttons somewhere, or brads, or some other kind of embellishment that's not a continuous line/shape - if that makes sense? TFS and can't wait to see what you decide!

I think that this journal is gorgeous just as it is. But if you have to add something, maybe a beaded pen to match the journal and on the left side of the journal have a holder for it. lol

Love this paper and the way you have covered the journal!

How about primas or big big brads -- 3 in a row vertically to the left of the tree closer to the left side of the journal?

Seeing your creations always makes me happy! I look forward to seeing them - tho my style is completely different.

I think something needs to dangle from the book plate. It needs some dimension on the front...it's a little flat.

It so pretty as it is! If you are feeling it needs something else then perhaps a chunky leaf or a leaf charm that goes with the tree.

This book is absolutely gorgeous as is! I like to embellish too (the more the better)! If I were to add anything, I would want some bling of some kind or a charm that fit in with the theme of the book.

I really like it the way it is too! So pretty with the Lilykate paper. However, if you wanted to add - how about some leaves of some type, to go with the tree you have there?

As everyone has mentioned, the journal is beautiful. If you want to add a little something, how about a piece of ribbon (one of the ones in the coil binding) tucked under the bookplate, straight down and tucked under the tree image. It would fill that space in a bit but tie into the ribbons you have already used. You could also make one of the paperclips (seen on SCS), made from the Lily Kate paper, to match the jounal.

I "stumbled" upon your site through SCS...I love, love, love everything! I check back almost everyday to see what your up to, TFS!
As for the journal...I agree with some of the other posts...maybe you should add something dangling from the book plate. Maybe a tag (like the one on the inside cover) with a charm dangling on the front of the tag!
I'll have to make one of these!

I LOVE this journal! It inspires me to get out all of my journals i've purchased over the months and alter them! If I were to add anything to it, maybe a tag dangling on the front, or a pen holder on the side w/a pen. Either way it's still BEAUTIFUL!!!

I think its just gorgeous the way it is - with the way you've laid out the cover. If you feel the need for more, how about maybe some bling - either stickles or some sparkly stones?

Or how about a matching pen? Matching big clippie bookmark?

Good luck - anyhow you do it, its just gorgeous!!

I like it the way it is and I would never be able to challenge anything you do. I think it is great the way it is. If you insist, I would put something round (circle punch) to offset the square on the right. I dunno!!

what if you add some cute little ribbon tags to use as dividers for different sections. Or you could make some fun dividers tabs with cute paper also.

how about a bird (carte postale) or butterfly (touch of nature) or two... cut out and added with dimensionals. maybe going down on an angle from the top right to bottom left.

it looks beautiful even if you leave it as is ;)
