Ribbons and Blooms

This one was actually started yesterday... but it was one of those days that I couldn't get the card right, so I put it all aside and started again this morning and LOVE the results!!
-
I researched the Pearl Ex website to look for more project ideas and saw the cool effects of Pearl Ex on Fimo clay. I had one lone package of metallic gold, so I rolled it out and stamped the big rose from SU Mixed Bouquet. Aztec gold was brushed into the imprint with a stipple brush, and flamingo pink was used to highlight the raised image. I baked in the oven following the package instructions. This was the EASY part - 'cause once I finished the rose I had no clue on what to do with it!!

While on the phone with my Mom this morning (Hi Mom!) I was playing around with different layouts for the big clay flower and had a brainstorm.... use RIBBON as the stem and leaves! I found this really pretty, wire edged ribbon at Mike's in the $1 bin a few weeks ago... it's the perfect match for the Basic Grey paper! I punched a hole where I was planning on putting the flower, threaded the ribbon through the hole and attached to the back with sticky tape. The stem was then twisted and secured on the back of the card bottom. I cut a small piece of ribbon for the leaves, and sewed it on the stem. The same ribbon was used to secure the chipboard frame. I stamped the frame with Versamark and covered with Aztec Gold pearl ex - I also sealed it with clear spray so the powder doesn't come off!

I'll be choosing a winner for this week's giveaway when I get home later tonight... so all comments from today will go toward the giveaway! Thanks for looking!
