Ocean Inspired

This is the very first time I've tried this technique... It's called Heated Pearls, and SCS has a great tutorial on how to do it. I wanted to keep the design simplet because the background is so beautiful, it reminded me so much of the ocean that I needed to dig deep in my stamp pile for an aquatic kinda stamp. This retired Wonderful Woodcuts stamp used to be my favorite for "manly" cards.
-
For the background I started out with brocade blue cardstock and smeared white glue all over one side. I then sprinkled pearl ex in true blue, duo blue-green, turquoise, spring green and pearl white on top of the glue and dusted them around with a stipple brush. I didn't put alot of glue on my card, so I don't have much bubbling to the background, the more glue the more it will bubble when you heat it with a heat gun.
-
I stamped the image on white cardstock and painted the ocean waves with true blue and due blue-green pearl ex. I used a little future floor was as a binder to keep it in place. The main image is a little washed out, but there is a pretty light green in the happy birthday area and the sky is blue.
-
This technique was fun, and has really beautiful results, but it still isn't my favorite Pearl Ex technique.... I'm saving my favorites for later in the week and trying new ones for the first half.
-
This weekend is VSN on Splitcoast stampers.... check out the great challenges all day today!!
-
If you decide to try this technique, please send me a link or a picture.... I would love to post it here. Email me at blog@clothingcorner.com.

Fabulous! I have got to try this out ... just got the babies in bed maybe I can actually get a little art project going before I collapse. Love the sail boat and the fact that it's a masculine card too (for me it seems to be a challenge to make cards for men).

This card looks like the blue-green ocean off the Hawaiian Islands. Beautiful! I have to try this technique. It looks so neat.
