I figured I'd make a card and use the round coaster as a card "front". First I covered the coaster with basic grey "Romani Gypsy" paper - this is the 6x6 paper, so the images are all smaller and perfect for card making. I then mounted the coaster to the other layer of basic grey paper with a gold metal hinge.
The top of the coaster was decorated with a Marvy Uchida Mega sized scallop circle. I cut out some of the flower images and leaves from the scrap from the bottom layer of BG and mounted them to the scallop. I also stamped a Rhonna Farrer image on the red BG paper. The sentiment is attached with ribbon to a piece of Hodgepodge Hardware.
The inside of the card is simply a distressed scalloped circle mounted under the coaster. All layers are then mounted on a 5x5 piece of white cardstock.

This is terrific...now there will be a continental shift as everyone runs to Michael's for these coasters!
What do I think??? FABULOUS!!! I probably saw those same coasters & passed them up, thinking there was no way to incorporate them into my stamping. Leave it to you --awesome job!!!
Thats an great card! You have an amazing eye for color!!!
Oh, SO cool! So are these plain chipboard coasters at M's? Where in M's did you find them? Also, I just bought a bunch of Basic Grey paper (it isn't here yet, though!), and I only got ONE of the smaller packs which are better for card-making. Do you have an online source for these? Most places have SOME Basic Grey, but not everything and it's frustrating!
LOVE your card! Where did you get the hinge?
