A Martha Card

I found myself wandering down the new aisle of Martha stuff at Michaels tonight. I went for a stroll down it a few days ago and came out with only a package of tags. But tonight I went in and had a 5 minute time limit (set by my dh who was waiting in the car) - I don't know if it was the time limit or what, but I ended up with a bunch of new stuff!! I picked up the Cosmo punch that I used on these flowers - love flower punches!! Plus I bought a glue pen... which is a handy, dandy little item, and the gorgeous, sparkly glitter - in gold of course!
-
When I got home I had to quick put a card together with my new goodies. I punched the flowers out of the flyer they put in my bag in the Martha logo colors. I then stamped the swirl from MFTstamps.com on a Fabriano Mediovalis card and adhere the glittery punched flowers with dimensionals.
-
The butterfly was made with wire edged ribbon - 2 pieces each tied in a knot, then the ends trimmed. The 2 bows were then wired together with gold wire. I made the antenae with gold wire wrapped around a knitting needle to form a spring.
-
What do you think of the new Martha stuff? I have heard alot of complaints that it's overpriced... I wasn't crazy about it my first trip down the aisle, but it's kind growing on me. Let me know your thoughts......

I haven't seen the whole aisle since they were still stocking last time I was in Mike's but this is incredible! I plan to try to sneak into Mike's at some point but work is kicking my butt and I don't have a long enough lunch break at this point--going after work once I've picked up the kids is no fun!

I'm seeing a lot of the Martha stuff and it's growing on me, too. Gosh this flower punch looks like Petal Prints. I love it! Different than your usual flower punch. Thanks for sharing your "finds" with us!

I did the same, toured the isle one day (our Michaels had not quite finished setting up the products...so had to go back.) I did not buy a thing that day, but the second day, I did a number on the ole credit card. I feel the products are reasonably priced and seem to be good quality. I bought quite a few of the punches, ribbon, one of the bird stamp sets, some glue, glitter, twill tape, and a few other embellishments...I had to be at an appointment, which was the life saver, or I should say wallet saver, I could have kept going and going on down the isle.

Although I like Martha's products, and I did buy many, I just feel she is intruding in an area that she should not be in. She is in it to make the $..not for the "love and devotion" to the craft, she knows how "hot" scrapbooking and stamping is, and like all big business, she is taking ADVANTAGE of the situation. I may be wrong, but its just a feeling. It's a chilly feeling, not a warm and cozy feeling you have with other products.

I agree that she is in it for the popularity of the product and not because she loves the craft. I'm not a Martha fan, but I don't dislike her either - so I'm pretty neutral on the subject of Martha herself.

I wasn't crazy about the punches when I saw them the other day, but I thought about the flower one and how cool the flowers would look punched from designer paper - I don't own a single flower punch and usually cut them all by hand - ugh!! Plus I like how they are squared off and can be stacked - that is a good thing!

Don't have a Michaels here so I've only seen the Martha stuff on line. Not screaming 'Buy Me', which is good. LOVE the ribbon butterfly. Such a cool idea!

I have only ventured down the aisle once and honestly didn't think too much of it. There were some things that were cute, but for me I'm trying to buy only the things that I absolutely LOVE right now because it's so easy to go OVER BOARD! Know what I mean?

Beautiful card Michelle! Love all the glitz against those elegant Martha colors. That ribbon butterfly is beautiful and such a classic "Michelle" touch.

I've always been a fan of MS and I'm surprised that I haven't picked up anything of hers yet. I can tell you that I have been eyeing the glitter (how could one not with all those pretty colors) and her ribbon. This Cosmo punch is gorgeous (and may have to find its way to my house)!

TFS!

I like *some* of the Martha products. When I went to Michael's last week I only bought a few of the ribbons. But day by day the products are growing on me. I could kick myself for not buying that flower punch when I saw it. I had it in my hand then put it back...darn it!

Your card is totally awesome!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that card!!!! just awesome!...

As for the Martha stuff, I actually like it quite a bit. I don't think it's incredibly overpriced, but when you can't use a coupon for one thing, sometimes it's hard to "get going" and buy a few things! KWIM? The... well... I'll use my coupon on THIS, and buy a couple more things too....

I took a quick look at Martha's new line...I didn't see anything that appealed to me at that time. But maybe I should take another look...because I love the punch that you used ...and I love the card you created also.
Thanks for the wonderful ideas you come up with !

I checked out Martha's stuff on Saturday and walked away with the 1" circle punch with the zigzag outline. That's about it. Her ribbon was pretty, but a bit overpriced. I thought the 18x18 paper was silly.

Oh....I haven't seen Martha's products yet, but I LOVE your card. I will need that punch as well. Love your butterfly and all those flowers!

OK well I am a Martha fan *please ladies don't throw anything at me* I must say I disagree with those saying she is poking around where she doesn't belong. I have been making cards since before you could find rubber stamps that weren't country geese and I have old Martha magazine that show/teach making greeting cards, place cards and place mats and ALL that kind of thing - she's been supporting our craft for a very long time ladies. I have bought a few of her items and have been very pleased with the quality. I think her prices are much the same as other favorites out there ... at least the items I wanted were in line anyway. YOUR card is fabulous!! Fan or no fan of Martha I think we all can agree that we are your fans!!

I really like the product line that Martha has compiled, and I think it is totally "marthaesque" I will try some of her products and I thank you for giving me a place to start. Was the wired ribbon you used for the butterfly also from her line of ribbons? LOVE the butterfly! I need a video of how to make that lovely creature!

thanks,

Beautiful card! I bought some of her stuff...but am irritated at her because she specified to Michaels that the coupon could NOT be used on HER stuff! How arrogant is she?! (OF course that didn't stop me from putting more money into her pocket) : )

All I can say is WOW!! This is beautiful. Love all the sparkle and colors. The flowers are gorgeous!!

I have ventured down the aisle while DH was in the car so it was a Dash and Look as well, I was totally overwhelmed by the gigantic scrapbooks.... Can you say HUGE? I thought that she had some stuff on the pricey side and others that weren't. The things that caught my eye the most were the ribbons (gorgeous), the glitter (you get a ton for the price) and the punches (very cute). I only slightly dented the credit card with ribbons but feel the need for the glitter that almost matched it.

I just son't know if I can support the women. I just don't like her. I watched her on the news a few days after her stuff came out and she was gloating because in 2 days she made a million dollars with this line. I love the flower punches and I am trying to talk myself in them so we shall see

Wow! I didn't know you couldn't use the 40% off coupon. I'M GOING TO EMAIL THEM AND TELL THEM SO!! I THINK WE ALL SHOULD!!! They don't make it easy tho! Go to marthastewart.com and put
"contact" in the search box. Then you have to enter your name and email and THEY will get in touch with you--"don't call us, we'll call you". I'm not giving up tho! If she wants her stuff in Michael's then she needs to get with the program!! (Sorry to vent here--I'm actually a fan, but this is ticking me off!!)
So anyway.....I went in yesterday to look at the products for the 2nd time, and only bought the Baker's Twine. I thought some things seemed a little overpriced, but not everything. I want to check out the punches again and the glitter is calling me too! But now I'm not sure if I want to buy anything if she's not honoring the coupon!!!

I went to the Martha Stewart Show yesterday & we got three of her punches & the hole punch as gifts. I haven't used them yet, but I do love her papers. I really like that they come in the large sizes so you can use them to cover chipboard books, etc. I also love the twill tape ribbon. It is very economical & they make beautiful embellishments. I think you're better off going to her marthastewartcrafts website to get the items b/c everything in her line is there. Thanks for your beautiful work, michelle, see you at CNY next week!
